Size & Measurements

Almost every Shema Wears piece is custom fit. Visit the studio and we’ll measure you — or measure yourself at home in five minutes and send them to us.

Before you start

  • Use a soft tape measure and measure in centimetres.
  • Wear light clothing — or the bra you will wear with your kemis.
  • Keep the tape snug but not tight, and ask someone to help if you can.

What to measure

  1. Bust — around the fullest part of your chest, tape level under your arms.
  2. Waist — around the narrowest part of your waist, usually just above the belly button.
  3. Hips — around the fullest part of your hips and seat, feet together.
  4. Shoulder width — across your back from one shoulder point to the other.
  5. Arm length — from the shoulder point to the wrist, arm slightly bent (for sleeved styles).
  6. Full length — from the top of your shoulder down to the floor, wearing the shoes you plan to wear.
  7. Height — without shoes.

For men’s habesha libs, add your neck (around the base of the neck) and inside leg (crotch to ankle) for trousers.

Why custom fit?

A kemis that fits at the bust and shoulders, and falls to the floor in your shoes, is the one you’ll feel best in. Made-to-measure removes the guesswork — whether you’re in Addis or ordering from abroad.

Send us your measurements

Add them in the measurements box at checkout, or send them with your order message. We’ll check everything with you before we start.
